The Township of West
Milford Fire Department is overseen by Fire Commissioner Ed Steines. The
Fire Commissioner is an elected official.
Nominations for Commissioner are made
by a current Chief, to be recommended to the Township Manager for an
appointment of two years beginning July 1st.
Nominees must obtain at least four of the six current Fire
Chief's votes. To be eligible for nomination, he or she must have
been a Chief of one of the six volunteer fire companies, and active in
the West Milford Township Chiefs' Association.
Fire Chief's are elected annually by the Fire Fighters in their station.
There are six fire stations strategically located within the Township's
