The West Milford First Aid Squad is comprised of 60 volunteer members and two buildings. Members are all New Jersey State Certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT’s). The squad members were “grandfathered” in as EMT’s in the late 80’s and in order to maintain that certification had to take a full course in 1990. Passing the EMT test is a requirement of membership in our squad. WMFAS
also has the distinction of being the first squad in
the State of New Jersey certified to use automated
external defibrillators (AED). This too happened in
the early 90’s – a busy time of change and
transition for EMS in NJ.
So,
today we continue to advance our skills by attending
monthly training classes, participating in drills and
of course responding to more and more emergency calls
in the Township. As the number of calls grow, so does
our need for members, especially those available
during the daytime hours and in the Newfoundland
coverage area. If you are interested in learning more
about the WMFAS please stop by!
